Bulk of the collection consists of genealogical pedigree charts for the Stone and allied families, especially Jackson, Neville, Whitney, and Wright. Includes supporting documentation such as newspaper clippings, genealogical notes, and correspondence. There is also a ms. genealogy on the descendants of Gregory Stone of Great Bromley, Eng. and Cambridge, Mass. and a few documents. Some items of particular interest include the 1777 will/inventory and the 1779 appeasement of Silas Stone's estate, and the 4 March 1672 petition of Daniel Stone to the Mass. Court of Assistants for compensation for the care he provided eight survivors of a shipwreck.

William Eben Stone, the son of Dr. Ebenezer and Elizabeth Holbrook (Hawes) Stone, was born 27 November 1845 Walpole, MA. William graduated from Brown University in 1866 and then studied mining engineering for a year at M.I.T. William Stone was an active member of the Stone Family Association and in 1907 he was appointed a member of the Committee on English Research of the New England Historic Genealogical Society.
